|
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common and disabling chronic health problem with increasing prevalence and mortality worldwide. Relationships between COPD and metabolic abnormalities such as cachexia and obesity are recognized recently, but the distinct mechanisms of these associations remain unknown. This review focuses on the epidemiology of cachexia and obesity in COPD, and its impact on the disease.
